Cusco → Pisac → Ollantaytambo → Chinchero → Cusco
Leaving the city of Cusco at 8:30 a.m., we take a road to the east and take a 30 km long route to Pisac, a huge Inca archaeological complex located on a mountain that is formed by several complexes that are recognizable among themselves. It contains sacred places such as Intihuatana, associated with astronomical observations important for the Andean agricultural calendar, other residential areas and also an inaccessible necropolis in the surrounding farallones.
The visit to the complex returns to the colonial town of Pisac, famous for its artisanal market where you can acquire all kinds of records of tailoring, textiles, etc., which have received the reinterpretation of the complex Andean iconography.
Moving away from this town, the trip takes us to the city of Urubamba, where you wait for lunch at whose buffet you can choose between the varied and delicious Peruvian cuisine.
The next destination is the Inca pueblo of Ollantaytambo, a site of religious, agricultural and military use where the impressive construction of the solar temple stands out on top of a hill, a site that demonstrates the legendary capacity of Inca engineering in a block building pink diorite cyclopeans and their unions without any mortar, all of them associated with earthworks and enclosures where the work of the stone is demonstrated perfectly and there is no other thing that increases the mystery regarding the construction methods with which they are lost.
From the previous point, the return to the city of Cusco begins, but before making a last stop at the Inca-colonial pueblo of Chinchero, also called “pueblo del rainbow” due to the continued appearance of this atmospheric phenomenon. There you can appreciate, as in many other ancient places, the superposition of the colonial church over the “huaca” or the Inca worship, Chinchero has a complex structure of monumental terraces and an artisanal market that is very colorful and important.
Returning to the city from this last place takes approximately three minutes in the afternoon.
